The Gauteng Department of Education has opened online applications for grade 1 and grade 8 admissions for the 2022 school year. Applications are open from 25 June to 25 July 2020. Parents can apply to a maximum of 5 schools. Supporting documents must be submitted along with the application, this must be done within 7 days of applying.
Parents are encouraged to use a reliable cellphone number when applying, as the Department will send regular SMSes to the cell phone number used to register and apply.
If you need assistance with the applications, the department has set up decentralised walk-in centres that are available from 08:00 to 16:00.
Applications for placing learners in schools are not approved on a first come first serve basis, so parents do not have to worry.
