The SACTWU bursary fund is awarded to members of the Union and their direct family members. The Southern Africa Clothing and Textile Workers Union manages one of the biggest bursary funds for trade unions in the country, if not the biggest.
SACTWU is a trade union and helps their members with negotiating wages and Terms for employment.They have over 100 000 members through the country and offices in various cities in South Africa. They are an affiliate of COSATU.
About the SACTWU Bursary Fund
If you are a member of SACTWU you can ask them about this bursary. It will not pay for all expenses, but will help you fund your study.
They will pay for 75% of your tuition fees and they will NOT cover other expenses. They have a maximum coverage for students in private colleges R7000 and for students at public Universities R35 000. This is for children of members only. If you are a spouse of a SACTWU member you will receive 50% of this.
Requirements for this Bursary
You can apply for this bursary if you fulfil these requirements:

- You are a member of SACTWU or you have a spouse or parent who is a member of SACTWU
- You are studying at a registered University or University of Technology. FET and TVET are not included.
- Members of SACTWU must have paid their membership fees
- You must be younger then 25 years old and not work full time

- Include all the (certified) documents they ask for in their forms. This includes documents like a Matric certificate, Valid ID, tertiary academic results, proof of SACTWU membership and a payslip to proof you are entitled to funding.
- If you are a child dependent, you will also need to complete the SASU application form.
