About This Bursary

BBD’s Bursary & Beyond Programme is looking for motivated and passionate students who want to study in the IT field toward a degree in Computer Science, Computer and Software Engineering, Information Technology, Game Design, or Informatics at Bachelors, Doctorate, Masters or Honours levels. BBD encourages students to apply and open a world of opportunities for their careers.

BBD supports students from Matric to completing their Masters degree with the opportunity for permanent employment at BBD after graduation.

Bursary students are required to attend a one-week onsite workshop where they will learn the BBD culture and meet other bursary students. The workshop will include group projects with the opportunity to access some of the latest technologies for practical experience and exposure to create practical solutions.   

What will the Bursary cover?

The Bursary will cover:

  • Monthly allowance for living expenses and incidentals
  • Support and Mentorship
  • Exposure to project work

Who Can Apply?

Eligibility/Requirements: 

Students must be registered with a South African University in one of the degree courses BSc / BEng / BCom / BIS in the IT field. 

  • South African Citizen
  • Studying or preparing to study a degree in IT at a recognized South African University
  • Minimum academic record of 70% for Matric, or 65% for Tertiary studies
  • Passion for building and creating software with samples of your ideas

Kindly take note BBD may conduct a credit check, criminal report, verify your educational qualifications (SAQA), and your employment history.   

During the selection process, your financial need and academic performance will be assessed and reviewed.
